Following the devastating Russian strikes on Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky has announced that he will cut his trip to South Africa. According to Ukraine’s foreign minister, the attacks demonstrated Moscow’s lack of interest in peace.
Ukrainian authorities report that at least nine people were killed in Kyiv by a Russian strike that occurred overnight.
Due to the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky has announced that he will shorten his trip to South Africa.
According to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, the Kremlin wants to continue its invasion in spite of US-led peace efforts, as seen by the ongoing Russian attacks.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to finally reach a peace agreement, saying the deadly overnight attacks on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, came at a poor moment.
Trump stated, “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV,” on his Truth Social platform.
“Very poor timing and not required. Stop it, Vladimir! Every week, 5,000 warriors lose their lives. Let’s complete the peace agreement. He went on with his statement.
Trump’s remarks are a rare instance of the US president denouncing Putin for Moscow’s ongoing assault against Ukraine.
His comments follow an attack by Russian missiles on Kyiv that left at least nine people dead and over 70 injured.
