Trump says Russian President will accept European Peacekeepers. The reason behind Putin’s apparent reversal on the use of international peacekeeping forces in Ukraine is unknown. Moscow categorically opposed the concept of British military being stationed in a post-war Ukraine, according to the Russian envoy to the UK just three days ago.
According to U.S. President Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin of Russia would agree to the deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of a possible agreement to end the conflict.
The remarks were made by Trump to reporters at the beginning of a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Yeah, he will accept it,” Trump reported. “That is the question I have posed to him. He isn’t seeking a world war, you see, if we make this arrangement.”
Andrey Vladmirovich, Russia’s ambassador to the UK, stated just three days ago that Moscow categorically opposed the notion of British troops being stationed in Ukraine in the event of a truce.
After more than three years of unrelenting Russian aggression, the presidents of the United States and France stated their desire to work toward ending the war in Ukraine during a joint press conference following their meeting.
“To put an end to another battle, a really terrible one, a war, something we haven’t seen since the Second World War, that is tearing up European soil,” Trump stated at the meeting.
Trump emphasized that ending the conflict and eventually achieving a lasting peace are his primary goals.
Washington and Europe must endeavor to restore world peace, according to the 47th president of the United States. Additionally, he applauded Macron for acknowledging that European countries must bear the “cost and burden” of maintaining peace in Ukraine.
According to Macron, the forces will only enter Ukraine if Russia and Ukraine have negotiated, decided upon, and signed a permanent ceasefire. Following that, European countries are prepared and eager to send “assurance troops” to Ukraine to maintain the peace.
According to Macron, the existence of European peacekeeping forces is a crucial and fundamental component of guaranteeing the sustainability of peace. The French leader pointed out that Moscow broke a peace agreement in 2014 when it attacked the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, which it ultimately annexed.
Macron claims that although the French government that came before him struck a peace pact with Putin, Moscow broke the terms of the agreement since there were no security guarantees. The French president went on to say that Europe must learn from its mistakes and proceed cautiously in any accord, emphasizing that the same mistake cannot be repeated.
