Trump claims ceasefire reached between Israel and Iran

According to US President Donald Trump, Iran and Israel have reached an agreement on a “complete and total” ceasefire that will take effect in the next few hours.

Shortly after an Iranian missile strike on the US military’s Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Trump made his declaration on Monday.

Trump said on social media, “I would like to congratulate both countries, Israel and Iran, on having the stamina, courage, and intelligence to end what should be called, ‘THE 12 DAY WAR,’ on the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will.”

“This war has the potential to last for years and wipe out the Middle East, but it hasn’t and never will!

America

Heavenly blessings to Israel, Iran, the Middle East, the United States of America, and the entire world!

The agreement has not been confirmed by Iran or Israel. Hours before the Israeli military ceases its operations, Trump implied that Iran would cease firing at Israel.

Many elements are lacking from Trump’s announcement, such as whether negotiations would follow the alleged ceasefire, Middle East analyst Omar Rahman told Al Jazeera.

Rahman charged Trump with prior “deception” on Israel’s behalf. Hours before Israel’s first attack on Iran, the US president Donald Trump had reaffirmed the US commitment to negotiation.

Trump struck Iran two days after announcing last week that he will make a decision on whether to help Israel in the battle within two weeks.

with the early hours of June 13, Israel attacked Iran with great force without any prior warning. Hundreds were killed in the strikes, which Israeli officials said were “preemptive” and targeted the nation’s missile and nuclear programs.

Israel murdered a number of Iranian generals in the initial round of attacks.

Iran retaliated with hundreds of missiles that caused extensive damage within Israel, claiming the attacks constituted unprovoked aggression in violation of the UN Charter.

Trump approved US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday.

In retaliation for the US strikes, Iran conducted an unprecedented missile attack at Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base earlier Monday.

Trump implied that the US will not retaliate, dismissing the retaliation as “weak.”
