United States Strikes Iran (Tehran):
Although a thorough effect assessment is still being conducted, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared that the US attack on three crucial nuclear facilities early Sunday “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
In a White House speech, President Donald Trump said that if Iran does not make peace, the United States might attack it again.
Operation Midnight Hammer:
According to US sources, about 125 aircraft were involved in the strikes, including some B-2 bombers that acted as a “decoy.” While Tomahawk missiles hit Isfahan, other B-2s delivered over a dozen huge “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s facilities at Fordow, and Natanz.
Top defense officials revealed the specifics of what the Pentagon dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer, which involved seven B-2 bombers and the first known operational use of a 30,000-pound bunker buster bomb, hours after the US carried out an unexpected, major military operation against three Iranian nuclear sites.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters today that the goal of this mission was not and has not been to overthrow the current leadership. “The president approved a precision operation to eliminate the Iranian nuclear program’s threats to our national interests and to protect our troops and our ally, Israel, collectively.”
“Dozens” of aerial refueling tankers, a guided missile submarine, more than 125 US planes, and the firing of roughly 75 precision guided weapons were all part of the US strike, according to Caine, a recently appointed four-star general.
According to Caine, a “strike package” consisting of seven B-2 Spirit bombers took out from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri at midnight on Friday. The aircraft flew east for eighteen hours with “minimal communications” in the direction of the “target area.”
“In a complex, tightly timed maneuver requiring exact synchronization across multiple platforms in a narrow piece of airspace,” Caine explained, those aircraft “linked up” with escort and support aircraft once they were back over land.
According to Caine, “the United States used a number of deception tactics, including decoys, as the Operation Midnight Hammer strike package entered Iranian airspace.
The fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft pushed out in front of the strike package at high altitude and high speed, sweeping in front of the package for enemy fighters and surface to air missile threats.”
A “final battle damage will take some time, but initial battle damage assessments indicate that all three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction,” Caine added in reference to the strikes’ effectiveness.
The US, which supports Israel, is the only nation known to have the capacity to enter Iran’s deep underground nuclear sites. In order to accomplish this, the bombers had to drop the 30,000-pound MOP for the first time in an operational environment.
“This is a strategy that required weeks and months of planning and positioning in order for us to be prepared when the US President called,” Hegseth stated. It required a lot of accuracy. It required the utmost level of operational security and deception.
Tehran’s response:
Iran’s foreign minister said he is unsure of how much “room is left for diplomacy” and accused the United States of going over a “very big red line.” The impact on Tehran’s nuclear program is being minimized by other Iranian figures. The world is awaiting Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s formal answer.
The second week of back-and-forth attacks in the Israel-Iran confrontation coincided with the US bombing. According to Israel’s military, Iran launched a new round of missiles at the nation.
