Applications are now open for the Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarships (BDGS) 2026/2027, a prestigious fully funded scholarship for international students.

About the Brunei Government Scholarship (BDGS)
The Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarship aims to promote academic excellence and cultural exchange by offering fully funded education to foreign students studying in Brunei for the first time.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses, accommodation, airfare, and health insurance, making it one of the most comprehensive scholarships in Southeast Asia.

Successful applicants will study at one of the following prestigious institutions:
University Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
University Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
Kolej University Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB)
Politeknik Brunei (PB)
Each institution offers diverse academic programmes across science, technology, education, Islamic studies, and social sciences.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Age Limit (as of 1 July 2026)
Diploma & Undergraduate: Not exceeding 25 years
Master’s Degree: Not exceeding 35 years
English Language Proficiency
Applicants must have one of the following:
Credit 6 in GCE ‘O’ Level English
Grade C in IGCSE English
TOEFL score of 550 or above
IELTS score of 6.0 or above
Note: Brunei Permanent Residents are not eligible. The scholarship is intended for international students studying in Brunei for the first time.
Scholarship Benefits (Fully Funded)
The BDGS offers extensive financial and academic support, including:
Full tuition fee exemption
Economy class return airfare to and from Brunei
Monthly personal allowance: BND $500
Monthly meals allowance: BND $150
Annual book allowance: BND $600
Free accommodation at university or polytechnic residential colleges
Baggage allowance upon completion:
BND $250 (ASEAN countries)
BND $500 (Non-ASEAN countries)
Comprehensive medical insurance for the duration of the scholarship
Responsibilities of Scholarship Recipients
Students awarded the scholarship must:
Follow all scholarship rules and university regulations
Respect Brunei’s customs, culture, and official religion
Obey the laws of Brunei Darussalam
Refrain from political activities
Undergo medical screening if required
