Markus Söder, the leader of CSU, is advocating for the purchase of 2,000 Patriot systems for the German “Iron Dome” missile defense system.
In order to defend against any assaults, Markus Söder, the state premier of Bavaria and leader of the Christian Social Union, demanded the purchase of additional missile systems, thousands of drones, and a German version of the “Iron Dome” made up of 2,000 Patriot systems.
Söder told the newspaper Bild am Sonntag that “Germany needs a protective shield with precision weapons.” He said that this would involve a defense shield akin to Israel’s “Iron Dome” and a contemporary drone army of 100,000 drones.
“We should cooperate with Ukraine and Israel and use their experience,” stated the CSU president.
Söder demanded 1,000 more Taurus cruise missiles, 500 infantry fighting vehicles, 35 more Eurofighter fighters, and 300 more assault tanks in addition to drones.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt declared during his visit to Israel that Germany wants to improve cooperation between its intelligence and security services and create a joint German-Israeli cyber research center.
“At this critical juncture in security, military defense is not enough. To improve our total defensive capabilities, a major civil defense upgrade is also necessary,” Dobrindt was quoted as saying by Germany’s Bild newspaper.
As part of its cyber defense strategy, Dobrindt also presented a five-point plan to create a “Cyber Dome” for Germany, according to a report.
One of Israel’s closest European allies is Germany. Berlin has increasingly sought to leverage Israel’s defense experience as it increases its military capabilities and NATO contributions in response to perceived escalating threats from China and Russia.
Social Democrats call for ban on far-right AfD party:
A vote to prepare to ban the far-right Alternative for Germany party was passed by Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) at the end of its three-day convention in Berlin.
According to Lars Klingbeil, a co-leader of the party, “there is no more room for tactics the moment domestic intelligence says this is a confirmed right-wing extremist party.”
In Friedrich Merz’s administration, he also holds the positions of Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister.
The SPD’s motion asks the appropriate constitutional bodies to establish the precedent for bringing a case to declare the anti-immigrant AfD unlawful.
“Now is the time for the constitutional bodies entitled to do so to create the conditions for immediately filing a motion to determine the unconstitutionality of the AfD,” the document continues.
Dobrindt supports Israeli attack on Iranian nuclear program:
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt made an unannounced trip to Tel Aviv on Sunday and expressed his unwavering support for Israel’s strike on Iran’s nuclear weapons development.
“Iran has been destabilizing this region for years, for decades, one has to say, with its support for terrorist groups to the north, to the south, to the east of Israel,” he stated.
According to Dobrindt, the Iranian nuclear program poses “a real threat to Israel‘s right to exist and a threat to Europe as well.”
According to the German minister, Tehran has been made fully aware that nuclear weapons research and development cannot be tolerated by Israel, the United States, or other friends like Germany.
Tehran maintains that the goal of its nuclear program is exclusively civilian.
These remarks were made by Dobrindt and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar during their visit to Bat Yam, the scene of a fatal Iranian missile attack.
He stated his conviction that Iran would use any nuclear weapon it created against Israel and characterized the attack as an assault on the civilian population.
Germany will keep doing everything it can to ensure Israel’s survival, Dobrindt said.
